Action for Children North Carolina

*Position Title: *Research & Data Analyst

*Position Goal: *Conduct research and data functions for Action for
Children North Carolina, using the highest level of research standards
while endeavoring to constantly promote credibility among Action for
Children and all external stakeholders and contacts.

*Reports To:* Director of Policy & Research

*Job Duties and Responsibilities:*

1. Collect data from primary and secondary data sources within and
outside the state of North Carolina to support data-driven policy
decisions and recommendations.

2. Work with state agencies to strengthen policies affecting children
and families; build and maintain collegial relationships with community
partners and others; build, maintain and participate in action-oriented
coalitions, as appropriate.

3. Conduct data manipulation and analysis to provide accurate and
up-to-date statistics on targeted indicators of child well-being.

4. Assist with the maintenance and continuous updating of the indicators
of child well-being at the state and county levels in the Action for
Children database.

5. Support the writing of all major publications, reports, fact sheets
and other data products based upon investigative research, polls and
surveys.

6. Oversee the provision of timely responses to inquiries regarding
Action for Children’s research and data products, publications and archives.

7. Provide technical assistance to local communities and organizations
seeking to conduct data analysis for program development and policy change.

8. Other duties, as assigned.

*Qualifications: *Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy,
Public Health, Statistics, Economics or closely-related field. Must
demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and
Powerpoint. Experience with GIS software and Spanish speaking preferred.

*Experience Required: *The successful candidate must demonstrate an
in-depth understanding of quantitative analysis, secondary research
methods and statistics. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability
to work with communities to collect qualitative data and inform
quantitative analysis of social policy questions. Ideally, the
successful candidate will be able to articulate the use of data and
research as a catalyst for action among citizens, advocates and
policymakers.
