Chatham Habitat for Humanity

Community Development Coordinator

Chatham Habitat for Humanity has expanded our focus from building houses, to building communities. We’ve been working on community development and neighborhood building for just under a year. Unfortunately, the person who took the initial position is leaving to do similar work in Latin America. She will be here through the end of July, so I’m hoping to have someone hired in June to give them some solid overlap. Because it’s a new position there is a lot of room for creativity. We have some foundational objectives, but we’re really looking for someone who can strengthen the program and develop leadership in the community. Someone who can help develop a sense of connection and create a learning environment for everyone involved, build collaboration with a deep belief that this will increase our innovation and impact. We need someone who not only can manage the daily work, but is also committed to the future and understands the need for a succession plan that supports the development and sustainability of the community vision. We’re a strong team, with a commitment to communication and working through the issues. We respect and value everyone’s input and believe that together we are stronger.

It’s a 40 hour a week position, with varied hours. Probably 75% daytime, 9-5ish, and then the other 25% would be nights and weekends based on community needs. The salary range is $26,000-$34,000 (plus benefits) depending on experience. We require someone who is bi-lingual, in English and Spanish. Our preference is someone who lives in or has strong connections to Chatham County, and we are committed to inclusion and diversity and encourage women and people of color to apply. We are an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and do not discriminate based on race, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, age, religion,
or disability status.
