Virginia Tech Office of Economic Development Associate

The Economic Development Associate is an entry-level professional position in the Office of Economic Development. The Associate will assist in the research, design, and implementation of applied research and technical assistance projects to enhance economic development in regions and communities across the Commonwealth. This 12-month restricted administrative / professional faculty position with the rank of lecturer reports to the Director of the Office of Economic Development.

Required Qualifications:
-Master's degree in Applied Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban and Regional Planning, or a closely related field.

-Candidate should have working knowledge of at least two of the following areas: industrial development, community economic development, visioning/strategic planning, labor market analysis, workforce development, tourism, and technology transfer.

-Experience in collecting qualitative and quantitative data through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and secondary research, as well as analyzing data through various statistical and qualitative techniques. Facility with geographic information systems or economic modeling software a plus.
