*GIS (Geographic Information Systems) COORDINATOR *
Will perform difficult technical and responsible administrative work planning, organizing and managing the city's GIS program. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Utilities Director. Plans, develops, and implements the geographic based information system, database and programs; schedules and coordinates work; trains personnel; troubleshoots and resolves problems; prepares and maintains detailed files and records; prepares correspondence and responds to requests for assistance from other city departments and outside agencies; maintains ARC GIS, ARC GIS Server, and GIS applications; coordinates the maintenance of utility GIS updates; creates, updates and coordinates data creation and updates to all GIS data; performs analysis and queries on GIS data; supports city staff on GIS software and applications through troubleshooting problems and errors; coordinates, organizes,
maintains and enhances GIS database to integrate geographically referenced data; works on various databases, spreadsheets and text editing programs; creates GIS databases; provides hands-on GIS training classes; performs related work as required.

Must possess a thorough knowledge of automated mapping and information processing methods and techniques; considerable knowledge of the capabilities of automated mapping and geographic information; general knowledge of cartographic principles, automated mapping, GIS database design and structure; general knowledge of GIS hardware and software components, data communication and network methods and techniques; general knowledge of land surveying techniques; ability to train employees in the operation of computer graphics hardware and software; ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public; ability to prepare written and oral presentations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in geography, computer science or related field and considerable
experience with GIS design and maintenance. * /Minimum annual salary-$42,976.
