Transportation Planner Position – The Louis Berger Group, Inc.

The Louis Berger Group, Inc. (www.louisberger.com) is seeking qualified applicants to submit resumes for a Bicycle and Pedestrian Planner position in our Raleigh, North Carolina office. The Louis Berger Group, Inc. has successfully conducted some of the most rigorous environmental, land use, economics, engineering, and transportation planning and design projects in the world, and would like to further its reputation in the planning field by hiring a motivated and experienced professional interested in working with public and private sector clientele in the areas of land use and transportation design and planning. Our office provides a stimulating mix of projects and applied concepts, and we are looking for an energetic person that enjoys taking
on independent and collaborative challenges. The degree of experience and education will dictate the salary and designation for this position. Qualified professionals must demonstrate strong communication skills, an excellent work ethic, and knowledge in one or more of the following areas of expertise:
Knowledge of local/state/federal programs and policies that influence bicycle and pedestrian transportation, including Safe Routes to School;
Knowledge of basic design and engineering principles for bicycle and pedestrian facilities, including AASHTO and MUTCD standards; and
Knowledge of and experience in Land Use and Transportation integration issues and techniques, including policy, ordinance, and program development.
Experience with transportation planning, engineering, streetscaping, landscape architecture, Safe Routes to School activities, bicycle/pedestrian planning and/or reporting are critical. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate proficiency in: geographic information systems (GIS) and graphic design software; written and oral communication skills; transportation planning/design; work cooperatively with others in a fast-paced environment; facilitate group discussions and lead public meetings; and be able to travel overnight or for several days independently. This position requires 3-5 years of experience, minimum, with a graduate degree in a relevant field considered substituting for two years of professional experience.
