Wheless & Associates--Red Mtn. Park

Executive Director

Winning candidate joins one of the largest urban conservation efforts in Alabama's history, Red Mountain Park. The successful candidate will bring an exceptional array of skills, talent, and experience to capitalize on a distinctly superb career advancing opportunity. Vision, initiative, and skills to make a decisive impact will distinguish the community service-oriented leader prepared to advance to this role.

Red Mountain Park currently exists as a 1,108-acre tract of land formerly owned by U.S. Steel Corp. In a gift of outstanding generosity, U.S. Steel has sold the land, valued at $16.5 million dollars, to the Black Warrior - Cahaba Rivers Land Trust at a discounted price of $7 million. U.S. Steel has given an additional $1 million dollars for development of the park. The full monetary value of U.S. Steel's contribution, approximately $10.5 million, makes this one of the largest philanthropic conservation gifts in the history of the State of Alabama.

The chosen candidate tapped for this key leadership role will catalyze community-based efforts and provide leadership, expertise, and resources to help build and support one of the largest and best greenways efforts in the country. Selected candidate will enjoy backing by solid financial resources, widespread community support, and a governing commission fully committed to the Park’s success - and yours. Proven management skills, communications talent, ability to establish rapport quickly and utilize the talents of willing staff and volunteers, along with growth-oriented visionary leadership will distinguish the candidate awarded this prized role.
