Research Assistant - NC Clean Water Education Partnership

RESEARCH ASSISTANT NEEDED
PAID, TIME-LIMITED POSITION

The NC Clean Water Education Partnership ( http://www.nccleanwater.org/ ) is a cooperative effort of local governments in North Carolina to educate citizens about stormwater and water quality using mass media. We are currently compiling results of surveys of the effectiveness of our media campaigns and would like to include review of relevant literature with our findings.

Major Tasks to be Performed:
The research assistant will
1) research policy guidance, journal articles, and academic papers on social marketing campaigns, outreach programs, and media consumption habits relevant to outreach program evaluation and outreach campaign planning
2) provide a review/summary of said relevant literature

Qualifications:
The position is open to graduate and undergraduate students with a concentration in communications, marketing, environmental policy, planning, public administration, statistics, public health, or other related fields. Knowledge of water quality issues is not necessary, but a basic understanding of public outreach would be helpful.

Applicants should also:
- Have strong analytical and written communication skills
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Be detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated
- Have a personal computer, email, internet access, etc.

Schedule:
Employment would begin this Fall and end by December 2008 or upon completion of the literature review. Work will be offsite and supervised by NC Clean Water Education Partnership staff remotely. The hourly wage will be between $13-17 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
