Graduate Student Intern Position
CFED
Fall 2008

Description

The Corporation for Enterprise Development (CFED) is seeking a part-time (10-12 hours per week) intern to assist on a variety of public policy projects for the fall 2008 semester. CFED (www.cfed.org) is a national, nonprofit organization that expands economic opportunity by helping Americans start and grow businesses, go to college, own a home and save for their children’s and own economic futures.

The CFED Intern will work closely with Bill Schweke, CFED’s Vice President of Learning & Innovation, and other staff on research assignments regarding high road economic development, reforms of business incentives, and linkages to workforce development policies and programs. This is a paid position ($12-15/hour) in CFED’s Durham office. Past CFED Interns have continued their service into multiple semesters and/or permanent employment.

The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills, proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, and academic or “hands-on” experience with economic and/or business development. Knowledge of workforce development and/or community development policies is a plus. Graduate students pursuing a degree in economics, planning, public policy, public administration, business administration, or sociology will be considered.
