City Planner, Rifle, Colorado

CITY PLANNER (Annual salary $51,000; exempt under FLSA): The City of Rifle (pop. 8,500), Colorado, has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic City Planner. Rifle is a bustling and fast-growing city located on Interstate-70, central to some of the finest outdoor recreation opportunities in the United States. Rifle is within an hour's drive of a commercial airport and three hours of the Denver metro area. The City of Rifle is actively pursuing several exciting planning projects, including an "Energy Innovation Center" and the redevelopment of much of the downtown. The City Planner will perform a wide variety of office and field duties under the supervision of the Assistant City Manager. Duties include: analyzing site plans; reviewing development applications; providing information to the public; researching, drafting, and implementing land use regulations; long range planning; and the review of other local and federal agency plans. Requires B.A. in Planning, Architecture, Geography, Public Administration, or related field; minimum one year's experience in local government or B.A./M.A. in Planning is preferred. Familiarity with ArcView and/or ArcGIS desirable.
