IPLS SUPPORT PROJECT PLANNER

This job is announced as an exempt limited-term position.

Working Title: Land Use Planner – Planning Division, Department of Planning & Zoning. Primary task will be to review and analyze the Comprehensive Plan quantified data using Geographic Information System (GIS). This information supports an on-going effort which has replaced the Urban Development Information System (UDIS) with the Integrated Parcel Lifecycle System (IPLS). Secondary tasks will include data entry of Plan potentials into databases and documentation of these assumptions. Additional duties will include assistance with data collection and analyses using appropriate methodologies, evaluation and quantification of Comprehensive Plan recommendations for areas with Plan options change or updates. Review and update of agency’s Comprehensive Plan map based on Area Plan changes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Planner II - Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a planning-related field; PLUS three years of experience in a planning-related field. A Masters degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience. The years of experience should include a minimum of two years of experience in the specific area of assignment, e.g., data analysis and/or land use planning.

Planner I - The minimum qualifications for this level are: education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a planning-related field.

Geographic information system (GIS) work experience is required for this position.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong abilities in quantitative skills and analysis; Professional experience in land use planning and quantification of development potential with a public planning agency; Ability to use personal computer equipment and prepare data for automated data processing.
