Roanoke County Internship

Title of Position: Environmental Intern
Status: Temporary position, No Fringe Benefits
Period: Spring/Summer 2008
Time Commitment: Maximum of 400 hours, maximum 40 hour work week, Flex schedule
Location: Roanoke County, Virginia
Salary: $10-15 per hour, contingent on experience

Position Description:

Primary responsibility is to collect and enter energy use and greenhouse gas emissions data in ICLEI (Local Governments for Sustainability) project database. Works with County staff, local utilities, businesses and other organizations to acquire billing records and raw data for computer entry AND TO IDENTIFY POTENTIAL STRATEGIES FOR EMISSIONS REDUCTIONS. Will be required to study ICLEI Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) model and acquire software training. Will assist with data analysis, development of GHG reduction target and climate protection measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Project will culminate with assisting in writing a report documenting the project results.
