The intern's major responsibility would be to support the open space and trails planning and GIS data inventory. In addition, the intern will provide general support for planning projects.
The candidate selected for this internship will focus primarily on the following activities:
• Updating the regional trail and greenway data layers;
• Updating the regional recreational and open space layers;
• Assist with trails and open space stakeholder/contact management
• Put on a meeting of staff-level GIS open space and trails stakeholders
• Sidewalk data capture from recent orthophotography or GPS
• Update or create metadata for data cataloging of spatial data
• Assist staff with meeting preparation and other miscellaneous tasks.
Candidate Skills
Skills necessary for the internship include:
• Proficiency with ArcGIS software.
• Knowledge of land use and environmental planning concepts;
• Good written and verbal communication skills;
• Experience communicating with the public; and
Additional considerations include:
Ability to work independently
Access to personal computer and internet
Timeframe and Compensation
The salary will be $12/hour for part-time work during spring of 2008.
