COASTAL RESERVE RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

Main office location: Center for Marine Science-Myrtle Grove.
Responsible for overseeing the North Carolina Coastal Reserve/North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve (NCCR/NCNERR) System Wide Monitoring Program. This involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and calibrating water quality and weather sampling equipment; planning and conducting field operations to deploy and retrieve monitoring equipment; conducting water quality sampling; preparing samples; and maintaining and analyzing a multiyear monitoring dataset according to NOAA Centralized Data Management Office protocols. The employee takes an active role in writing grants, designing and implementing research projects, conducting data analysis, and preparing reports and manuscripts to support research and monitoring activities. This position serves as the lead monitoring technical resource for the NCCR/NCNERR which includes occasional travel to other Reserve offices to train staff and troubleshoot equipment. The employee is also expected to support Reserve education and
stewardship activities as needed.

Hiring Salary Range: $33,650 - $40,000
